Waldeinsamkeit
Your phone is dead
Out of the corner of your eye you see him

Gigil - Martin Freeman

Well I only know “Waldeinsamkeit” in connection with art or literature and not for expressing my loneliness in the woods… But the others are gorgeous xD

Oh come the fuck on, people use l’esprit de l’escalier all the fucking time

*rips face off* these sorts of articles are one of my biggest fucking bugbears swear down

Maps, with every name translated, back through the local tongue, into English.
Suddenly both poetic and prosaic, at once.

I love the fact that the Severn [[reppin AW YEAH]] is just River. So cool.

there was a typo in this. it’s been corrected at source.
not gonna say what it is.
i’ll let you find it for yourselves.

I don’t think I’m getting this concept right, though, but bear with me.
Derry -> Doire -> Oak/Oakwood
Cork -> Corcaigh -> Marshy Place
Dublin -> Dubh Linn -> Black Pool… but! Dublin, in Irish, is Báile Átha Cliath, which means Town of the Hurdle Ford. that one doesn’t match up unless you take something that isn’t its actual name. Dubh Linn referred to the river and got anglicised, presumably by the cartographer who took one look at the Liffey, pulled a face and said ‘what the hell do you call that?’
(this is, I think, the third post I’ve come over all Irish on in the past couple of days.)

I read this post and absolutely LOVED the idea with a burning passion. The headcast this person chose was perfect since I loved Attack The Block so much, so I decided to make an AU Poster. Thank you Sophistory, I’m hooked. <3

He’s even got the DEDUCTION IS SERIOUS BUSINESS face on! I’m sold dudes.

This is awesome.
